Test your AvGeek: monthly prize rules
The prize. Each calendar month, the best perfect prize run wins an $80 08 Left gift card. If nobody posts a perfect run that month, there is no winner and no prize for that month.
No purchase necessary. It is free to play and free to enter. Buying anything does not improve your chances.
Who can enter. Legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, 18 or older. 08 Left staff and their households cannot win. Void where prohibited.
How to qualify. On Test your AvGeek, press "Play the prize run". A prize run is eight Hard puzzles of the type you chose (Diagrams, Towers or Runways), picked at random for you. Solve all eight and you can enter the run with your name and email.
Scoring. Each puzzle scores the guesses you had left when you solved it (5 for a first guess), plus a speed bonus: +3 under 5 seconds, +2 under 15 seconds, +1 under 30 seconds. The total is multiplied by 3 for Hard. Time is measured by our server, from the moment it sends the puzzle to the moment it receives your correct guess.
The winner. The entered perfect run with the highest score between the first and last day of the month (Pacific Time). Ties go to the lower total time, then to the run finished first.
Limits. Up to three prize runs of each type per day from one connection, and one entry per email address per type per day.
Fair play. We review the winning run before the prize is awarded. Runs made with automated tools, answer lists or look-ups, or several identities are disqualified, and the next eligible run wins. Our decision is final.
Notification. We email the winner in the first week of the following month. If the winner does not reply within 14 days, the prize passes to the next eligible perfect run. Gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash.
Your details. We use your name and email to contact you about the prize. We add you to 08 Left emails only if you tick the box to opt in. The leaderboard shows your first name and last initial only.
