Inspired by a trip to Japan, and the writen Japanese language, Ryan thought what if runways were almost their own characters? And after a ton of work, we got there. Each airport, coded at the bottom, contains its runways with correct headings and correct lengths (relative to each airport) and it really does create a language of sorts.
